Stem-based energy competition for Colorado school districts

Pueblo County School District schools competed in an energy conservation competition from March 4-April 11, 2019.  Each school earned as many points as they could during the 5-week competition.  

Winners have been announced!

Group 1: Prairie Winds Elementary School

Group 2: Vineland Middle School

Group 3: Pueblo County High School

Thanks to the Colorado Energy Office who provided funding for the competition, each winning school will be awarded $20,000 to make energy efficiency improvements to their building!

In the school district competition, schools from one Colorado district at a time participate in an energy competition.    Each school tries to earn as many points as possible in the following 2 categories:

School Measured Savings

During the competition, schools reduce their electricity usage by behavioral means only: turning off lights, removing unnecessary appliances, setting computers to power save mode, etc. Learn More
