Garden In A Box: Water Savings and Impact Analysis

Survey says: thirsty turf grass is out and waterwise landscaping is becoming the new norm in Colorado. Over the past five years, Colorado communities, decision-makers, and conservation professionals have been looking to landscape transformation as a long-term solution to water shortages.

With funding from the Colorado Water Conservation Board, Resource Central, an award-winning nonprofit with a mission of putting conservation into action, has been working over the last 18 months to answer that question.

It is important to understand the impacts of water conservation programs like Garden In A Box, not only in terms of water savings but also in the other ways these programs can benefit the community.

The Garden In A Box program was launched in 2003 to help Colorado conserve water by transforming landscapes. More than 20 years later, it has become a widely recognized standard for water-efficient gardening throughout the Front Range, with over 69,000 kits distributed since its inception!
