Saving Water and Money, One Yard at a Time
Resource Central’s Lawn Replacement program is a great way to transform your thirsty grass into a waterwise landscape. Our nonprofit partners with local water providers and municipalities to offer up to a $750 discount on 2025 projects.
This program offers two options: Lawn Removal Service and Do-it-Yourself to clear the way for a new waterwise landscape that supports pollinators and biodiversity while saving water and money.

How the Lawn Replacement Program Works
1. Choose from two programs options for your landscaping project:
- Lawn Removal Service: We come to your home, cut sod and remove your lawn, haul away and compost the grass.
- Do-it-Yourself (DIY): As of May 22, 2025, this option is closed, thanks to your enthusiastic interest in removing thirsty grass. Our Lawn Removal Service can make your lawn transformation happen this year!
2. Select your water provider or municipality from the drop-down below to check if you’re eligible for a discount:
3. Apply for the program to find your price and select either the Lawn Removal Service or DIY option. Once your application is approved, you may be eligible for up to $750 in discounts.

Program Requirements
- Grass in project area must be healthy and well-maintained.
- Project area must be between 200 and 2,000 square feet.
- Must replace the area with at least 50% waterwise plant material.
- Participant and/or property must be in good standing with their water provider or municipality.
- Agreement to adjust your sprinklers and/or watering schedule to account for a new low-water landscape.
- Adhere to municipal ordinances.
- Must obtain approval of HOA as applicable.
Your project is ineligible if:
- The project and or lawn removal is already underway.
- Chemicals are used to remove the lawn.
- Lawn is in poor condition, grass is dead, or has not been maintained leading up to program acceptance.
- Replacement materials include use of artificial/synthetic turf, impermeable concrete, water features, invasive species, or new turf grass.
