Nailed It! Workshop Series

Build skills, save money, reduce waste

Calling all makers, DIY-ers, and everyone in between! Nailed It! workshops are a free, in-person series designed to help community members build confidence with basic home repairs and improvement projects. Led by local repair and construction professionals, these classes teach practical skills and creative home fixes, using reclaimed materials whenever possible. Whether you’re hoping to save money, learn something new, or support a more circular, low-waste community, these free workshops are a fun and welcoming place to start.

All workshops are held in the warehouse at the Materials Reuse facility, located at 6400 Arapahoe Rd, Boulder, CO 80303.

These workshops are free to attend, but please register/RSVP so we can plan accordingly.

Compost & Vermiculture

Wednesday, March 11, 12 – 1:30pm

Join us for a guided introduction to composting and learn two great ways to turn food scraps into rich soil. We’ll learn how to build a simple two-tier worm bin for vermicomposting (composting with worms) and demonstrate the basics of hot composting using a real compost pile, including how to turn it and keep it thriving. Bins and compost will be available for anyone interested in starting their own setup at home!

Keep It Flowing: Simple Plumbing Care That Saves Water & Reduces Waste

Join local plumbing professionals to learn safe, simple maintenance skills for key areas like toilet tanks and the P-trap drain under a sink to keep your plumbing running efficiently. We’ll cover how to spot early warning signs, avoid wasteful plumbing failures, and understand when it’s time to call a professional. Walk away with practical know-how that helps protect your home and conserve water!

All attendees will receive a $10 Materials Reuse store credit to use towards your next project!

Improving Your Sprinkler System’s Efficiency

How to Choose, Install, and Maintain a Rain Barrel

U-Fix-It Clinic

Saturday, April 18, 10am – 1pm

By the Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic

Bring small household appliances (like toasters and fans), lamps, small electronics, clothing and textiles, jewelry, toys, tools, and other household items to be fixed at a free U-Fix-It Clinic! These community repair events let you work alongside skilled volunteers to diagnose issues, learn repair techniques, and give everyday items a second life. Registration is required and is now open on the U-Fix-It Clinic website!
