How to Create a Classroom Energy Mascot

Brainstorm with the Class

Invite students to imagine characters that represent energy saving. Prompt them with questions like:

• • What animal or creature would make a great energy helper?

  • Should it be silly, serious, or sneaky?

  • What energy habits could it help with (like unplugging chargers or turning off lights)?

Design and Name Your Mascot

Students can draw their mascots on paper or use digital tools to create their characters. Hold a class vote to decide on a final name and design.

Give It a Job

Decide what the mascot “does” in the classroom. You can:

• • Write speech bubbles or energy-saving tips “from” the mascot

  • Post reminders next to switches, windows, or computers

  • Use the mascot to introduce weekly energy tips during announcements

Keep It Visible

Display the mascot in a central location, like a bulletin board or classroom door. Let it “travel” to other rooms or areas to spread the message. Encourage students to keep the mascot active and involved all year long!
