  2. Select if you want to apply your discount toward gardens
  3. Tell us about yourself and your project
  4. Submit your application!

We’ll take a look at your application and reach out within 2 weeks.

2. Pre-Approved – Submit your contract

Once our staff has confirmed your discount, you’ll finish your contract to let us know:

  • What your final project size is
  • Show us photos of the area
  • What you’ll be replacing your lawn with
  • Percentage of project area in plants vs ground cover materials
  • How you are changing your irrigation
  • Agree to the terms and conditions of our program

3. Approval – Confirm your project

If you contract looks good and you are approved, you will complete your confirmation form. For lawn removal services you will provide your 50% deposit, and for remove it yourself projects you will confirm your project completion date. This must be completed by April 1, 2024 to lock-in your project.

4. Confirmed!

Once you’ve submitted your application, contract and confirmation form, your project is confirmed! Our removal season is May through September and we will begin reaching out in May and June to applicants who have completed their application materials before the Priority Deadline of April 1, 2024.

2024 Priority Deadlines

Late Summer – June 17 (July-September Removal)
After June 17th – items must be completed within 30 days of Pre-Approval

What is it?
Our priority deadline offers you the opportunity to secure your discount first, giving you the flexibility to submit photos, measure your project, and confirm details at a later date. This allows you to prioritize your discount while providing the convenience to complete additional steps when it suits you.

Completing the necessary steps by the Priority Deadline secures priority status for earliest removal, best opportunities for discounted services and preferred scheduling before those who complete the process later.

Missing the deadline
Submitting your materials after the priority deadline will result in your application being moved to the bottom of the list for your designated discount providers’ allocated discounts. To maximize your chances of securing preferred discounts, it’s advisable to meet the priority deadline.

Even after the priority deadline has passed, you can still apply!
The deadline helps us plan projects efficiently and allows us to offer additional discounts to those on the cancellation list. Applying later doesn’t disqualify you; it simply helps us better organize and enhance opportunities for everyone involved.

Materials Needed by the Deadline

  1. Application – this is to claim your spot (and discount/gardens, if applicable)
  2. Contract – tell us more about your project, finalize the sq ft and provide photos
  3. Project Confirmation – lock in your project!
    • Lawn Removal Services – 50% deposit
    • Remove-It-Yourself – Project Confirmation

Program Requirements

Qualified Candidates

Our program focuses on reducing water use for lawns. By concentrating on projects that replace well-kept turf (which requires more water) with water-efficient alternatives, we aim to boost our water conservation efforts.

Your project area must be watered, well-maintained grass. Applicants with dead grass or overgrown weeds will not be accepted. Your lawn quality must be equal to or better then the image on the right.

You must properly adjust and maintain your irrigation system and/or watering schedule to account for the new low-water landscape features.

We only accept new projects – you are not eligible for the program if you have already removed or killed your existing turf prior to receiving written acceptance into the program from Resource Central.

Replacement Materials

You must replace at least 50% of the removed turf area with plant material.

  • Plant material: waterwise perennial gardens (preferred); Buffalograss (Buchloë dactyloides); other low-water grasses; clover; wildflower meadows;
  • Ground cover: small-to-medium size patios and decks using permeable materials; permeable rock, stone, or gravel areas or pathways; or any other combination thereof.
  • Not allowed: Artificial/synthetic turf, impermeable concrete or similar material, water features, invasive species, or new turf.

Property

You must be the legal owner and/or manager of the property located at the address below. It is your responsibility to comply with any and all municipal and/or homeowners’ association landscaping codes, standards, and ordinances.

If your property is covenant controlled and/or part of a homeowners’ association (HOA), you are responsible for seeking and obtaining proper approval for your landscape change project prior to starting any work. Resource Central is not responsible for fines, fees, or penalties imposed by HOAs or similar entities.

The Price Calculator at the bottom of this page will calculate your project price for you but if you want to know more.

This shows your discounted project square feet. Please note, anything over this amount costs $2.50 per square foot.

Step 1:

           $ Your provider discount
     -  $ Garden cost
────────────────────
           $ Remaining discount

Step 2:

        $ Remaining Discount ➗ $1.50

        = Amount of sq ft that you pay $1 per sq ft for

Example:

           $ 1000 discount
     - $ 333 spent on gardens
────────────────────
       $ 667 Remaining Discount

$ 667 ➗ $1.50 = 444 (You pay $1 per sq ft up to 444 sq ft)

$2.50 per sq ft for every sq ft over 444

Replacement Options Include:

Lawn Replacement Gardens

You can use your discount toward exclusive Lawn Replacement Garden kits (up to 300 sq ft) or you can purchase Garden In A Box kits in the Garden Store.

Waterwise Plant Material

  • Perennial plants (CSU Extension and High Country Gardens are good resources)
  • Native or low-water grasses: Buffalograss, Blue Gramma, DogTuff
  • Clover or wildflowers

Ground Cover / Patios

Small-to-medium size patios and decks using permeable materials; permeable rock, stone, or gravel areas or pathways; or any other combination thereof. Keep in mind 50% of your project area must be plant material.

A lush Garden In A Box waterwise yard in its third year of growth.

A Blank Canvas

We use sod cutters to remove 2.5 inches of turf and soil leaving you with a blank canvas for your new waterwise yard. Please note, some yards sit above sidewalk/driveways/pavement – our crews will not level or grade your project space.

We recommend planting and covering the area in mulch or rocks within 1 week. If your sod is removed before your plants are ready, pre-layout the plant holes then mulch or rock around the holes.

Your irrigation system must be changed for your new waterwise yard. Watering the area as-usual will result in grass grow-back and weeds. We recommend switching to a drip system or hand-watering your plants until they are established (3 years).
