1. Who We Are
Resource Central is an award-winning nonprofit based in Boulder, Colorado. Our mission is to make conservation easy, helping more than one million people save water, conserve energy, and reduce waste. Our website ResourceCentral.org serves to connect community members with conservation programs.
2. What Data We Collect
As a nonprofit organization, we collect personal and technical information to provide and improve our conservation programs and communications. This may include:
- Personal information: Name, contact details, water provider, or water utility billing address, and account number.
- Participation details: Program sign-ups, event registrations, volunteer liability forms, or participant retention records.
- Payment information: Securely processed by our third-party providers.
- Website and analytics data: Internet Protocol address, domain names, browser type, and site activity collected through Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel (Facebook), and Pinterest tracking.
- Communication preferences: your consent to receive emails or text messages.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 years old. The Renew Our Schools program works with school administrators and does not use student information.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to provide requested services, communicate program updates, improve our offerings, meet reporting obligations, and evaluate conservation impact. To help track the impact, we:
- Fulfill legal, reporting, or audit obligations with local municipalities and/or water utilities that partner with us on our conservation programs.
- Track long-term program participation and retention for conservation impact reporting.
- Evaluate the conservation impact of Slow the Flow sprinkler evaluations and our other conservation programs.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
4. Email or Contact Forms
When you contact Resource Central or complete a form on our website, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, contact details, water provider, or message content. This allows us to respond to inquiries and communicate about relevant programs or events.
Form submissions are kept for up to three years for customer service purposes and are not used for marketing unless you have opted in to communication from us.
We use secure third-party platforms to manage emails, forms, and program communications such as Bloomerang, Constant Contact, SendGrid, and other administrative tools, all of which comply with data protection standards.
All collected contact information is used only for Resource Central’s operational purposes and is never sold or rented.
5. SMS or Text Messaging
If you opt in to receive text messages, we collect your mobile number and preferences to send program or event updates through ClickSend. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP or emailing privacy@resourcecentral.org.
SMS text message communication data is used only for Resource Central’s purposes and never shared with external marketers.
6. Purchases, Donations, and Transactions
When you make a purchase or donation through Resource Central’s website, event registration, or onsite checkout, we collect only the information needed to process your transaction securely and to communicate with you about the transaction.
All online payments are processed through trusted providers, including Authorize.net, PayPal, Stripe, and Square. Resource Central does not store full credit card numbers or payment account details on its servers.
Transaction data is used to process payments, issue receipts, provide support, and meet legal and audit requirements. Records are retained for up to three years.
7. Cookies and Analytics
Our website uses cookies and analytics tools to improve user experience and measure performance. These include Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel (Facebook), and Pinterest tracking.

All partners are required to protect your data and use it only for Resource Central’s purposes. We do not sell or rent your personal data.
9. How Long We Retain Data
We retain data only as long as needed for operational, legal, or reporting purposes. Typically, up to three years for inquiries, program participation records, payment data, and analytics.
You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Request to Remove Your Data).
10. Your Rights Under the Colorado Privacy Act
The Colorado Privacy Act gives Colorado residents the right to access, correct, or delete their personal data and to opt out of certain data processing.
Use our Privacy Policy Request Form to exercise your rights. We will respond within 45 days as required by law.

We store data in the United States using secure providers such as WP Engine. We protect it through encrypted website connections (SSL), access controls, password management, and staff training on privacy best practices. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required for staff accounts that access sensitive data or administrative systems.
