Summer is still going strong, and so is the conservation momentum at Resource Central’s Materials Reuse facility! Our volunteers play a huge role in helping us to keep reusable materials in circulation and supporting our community’s efforts to reduce waste. Whether you’re a current volunteer or curious to get involved, there are plenty of exciting opportunities happening right now.
Join the Action! August Volunteer Highlights:
Our final Rock & Reuse event of the season is this Saturday, August 9, and it’s going to be a big one! Join us from 10am to 1pm for tacos, live music, glassblowing art, and a free solar workshop. To cap it off, the event will feature one of our largest conservation clear-outs ever, with a massive 50% off sale to help make room for even more donated materials. You are invited to come help keep things organized, assist customers, or just come by to enjoy the festivities.
If you’re handy with fixing things, there’s another great opportunity to get involved. We’re currently seeking volunteers with small engine or appliance repair skills to help us make minor fixes to donated items. Help extend the life of tools and materials that might otherwise go to waste, helping ensure they remain usable and available to other community members.
Looking for a flexible way to give back? Consider adopting a section of our Materials Reuse yard! You (and friends or coworkers) can stop by on your own schedule to help keep a designated area tidy and welcoming. It’s a low-pressure yet high-impact way to contribute, and we’ll even create a sign to recognize your support.
Volunteers Make a Big Impact
We’re so grateful to our dedicated volunteers who make this program possible. Participants in the Materials Reuse volunteer program have contributed over 930 hours to our conservation mission so far this year — helping us serve more than 1,080 individuals in July alone. If you’re ready to jump in and join the effort, we invite you to explore our program and sign up at ResourceCentral.org/Volunteer.
