With this option, Resource Central sends a professional crew to your home to cut and remove your well-maintained grass. We haul away the sod and compost it, giving it a second life instead of sending it to the landfill. It is a quick, affordable way to clear your yard and prepare for a waterwise landscape.
Through partnerships with participating water providers and municipalities, you may qualify for a significant discount. That support makes professional lawn removal even more accessible.
How It Works
Our lawn removal season runs from May through late summer, weather permitting. We schedule appointments on a rolling basis. Crews operate Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.
Before your appointment, keep watering your lawn until two days prior to removal. Clear the area of debris, pet waste, and obstacles. Mark sprinkler heads and drainage features clearly. A representative must be home to meet the crew and complete payment.
On removal day, our team uses a sod cutter to remove the grass efficiently. We remove lawn only. The service does not include soil tilling, planting, mulch, or irrigation updates. Most projects take just a few hours. Timing depends on project size and yard features such as slope or fence access.
What You Need to Apply
Before submitting your application, gather the following:
- Measurements of your project area, with a 200 square foot minimum.
- Clear, snow-free photos of the lawn you plan to remove.
- A recent water bill with a visible account number.
After we review and approve your application, you will submit a 50 percent deposit to reserve your removal date.
Preparing these materials ahead of time helps your application move forward more quickly.
Does Your Lawn Qualify?
This service is designed for healthy, well-maintained lawns that use significant water and can be replaced with low water alternatives and gardens. You must have at least 200 square feet of grass to remove.
If your yard meets these requirements, you are likely eligible.
What Does It Cost?
The market rate for removal is $2.75 per square foot. Through partnerships with participating water providers and municipalities, partners may cover $1.75 per square foot, up to a maximum discount of $750.
You pay $1 per square foot for the first portion of your project. Your water provider covers the remaining $1.75 per square foot until the discount reaches its limit. Discount amounts vary by partner, but approved projects receive at least 425 square feet of removal at $1 per square foot.
