Emma Gomez Martinez Park Garden

We are honored to be a part of the beautiful Emma Gomez Martinez Park. A few weekends ago, six Garden In A Box kits were planted to beautify and commemorate Emma’s incredible work in the Boulder community. Emma Gomez Martinez has been an activist and community leader for the Latinx community for decades. Emma and members of her family joined us for the event.
Our wonderful Conservation Engagement Manager, Elisabeth Bowmen, and multi-talented board member, Ryan Slabaugh, participated in the event.
“The combination of local history, the mission and the people made the day a memorable one. The Martinez family was in attendance and shared stories about defending the park from development, the mission was to plant some life, and the people were more than generous in spirit and attitude. I felt genuinely blessed to be a part of it,” commented Ryan.
“This xeric garden installation is a shining example of our partnership with the City of Boulder. We are grateful to have played a small role in celebrating the impact of such a powerful and impactful person in our hometown,” says Elisabeth.
