BOULDER- Local nonprofit, Resource Central, had the highest landfill diversion day in its history on Saturday, October 15. Resource Central diverted more than 107,000 pounds of tools last Saturday through its Tool Sale. Tools ranged from hammers to ride-on lawnmowers. This is the first Tool Sale since pausing the event due to COVID and facility renovations. Resource Central provides vital services in helping the city reach its waste reduction goals of 85% by 2025. Later this year the facility will be renovating the donation lane making processing and waste diversion even easier.
“We are seeing a tremendous increase in community participation at our facility. Boulder’s waste reduction goals not only positively impact the environment but also accessibility for materials during these expensive, inflation-impacted times,” says Neal Lurie, Resource Central president.
