Watt’z Up Wednesday: Game On!

Game on! Who doesn’t love a little friendly competition? This week, turn energy conservation into an exciting learning experience with a trivia game! The Energy Trivia Challenge is a fun, interactive way to help students understand the importance of saving energy while reinforcing STEM concepts.

What is the Energy Trivia Challenge?

The Energy Trivia Challenge is a classroom game that tests students’ knowledge of energy use, conservation, and renewable energy. By turning learning into a competition, students stay engaged while absorbing key lessons about sustainability and mindful energy habits.

How to Conduct an Energy Trivia Challenge

Create Trivia Questions

Prepare a mix of multiple-choice, true/false, and open-ended questions about:

  • Energy consumption facts
  • Renewable vs. nonrenewable energy sources
  • Simple energy-saving tips for school and home

Form Teams

Divide the class into small teams and assign a team captain to keep track of answers. Encourage teamwork and discussion before selecting responses.

Play the Game

Ask trivia questions and have teams compete to see who knows the most about energy conservation! To increase engagement, consider using digital quiz platforms like Kahoot! or Quizizz for real-time competition.

Reflect and Adjust

After the game, discuss the key takeaways. What new facts did students learn? How can they apply these energy-saving tips in real life?

Energy Saving Pledges

Have students make a personal or classroom pledge to adopt an energy-saving habit based on what they learned.

Host a School-Wide Trivia Challenge

Take the competition to the next level by organizing a school-wide energy trivia event or an inter-classroom showdown.

Did You Know?

💡 Schools in the U.S. spend $1.4 billion annually on energy bills—more than on textbooks and computers combined! Teaching students about conservation is a great way to help reduce that cost.

Join the Movement to Save Energy

Optimizing natural light in your classroom is a simple yet powerful way to integrate STEM and sustainability into everyday learning. By participating, students gain a deeper understanding of energy conservation while improving their environment.
